Major influential theories concerning international competitiveness are the comparative advantage theory and Michael Porter's National Diamond system. And it is vital to apply them in the exploration. Therefore the research of international competitiveness of rice is to be conducted with the country as subject. Rice is to be considered as an industry. Only from such a perspective can we master the key elements affecting the competitiveness. According to Porter's main elements affecting international competitiveness of rice are its producing factor conditions, its supply & demand status-quo and the development of relevant supportive industries and the subject of operating of rice. Thus is constructed the evaluation system of international competitiveness of agricultural produce comprised of four major indicators containing ten specific ones. In exemplary analysis of the international competitiveness of our rice by the system, it is concluded that our rice competitiveness is medium globally. There are many reasons as for the situation. Therefore to promote the international competitiveness of our rice it is necessary to speed up agricultural modernization by industrialization, increase investment of rural public education and enlarge the appropriate scale of operation etc.
