The Study Of Approaches Of Transformation From Traditional Transportation Industry To Modern Logistics Industry

E-commerce has been promoting unprecedented logistics-heat in china at present. We should study logistics theory and research logistics practice on a deeper level when people are preaching and discussing logistics theory continuously. Modern logistics management has developed as a new economic thing in recent years. Its developing process is much similar to that of other countries. It has developed and made its progress in continuous studying and exploring. This thesis probes into the ways and methods of changing the traditional transportation enterprises into the modern logistics industries and analyzes the present state of the traditional transportation enterprises in our country, the relationship between traditional transportation enterprises and modern logistics industries and the related problems met during the transformation from the traditional transportation enterprises to the modern logistics industries. In the developed countries, the social logistics or the third party logistics has become an independent industry, accomplished social division and become an important part of socialized production. In China, however, most of logistical business also stays on the low level of simple ware storage and transportation because of the low price of labor and lack of capital. Indistinct social division and chaotic competition have caused the depression of the third party logistics industry. Furthermore, aviation,water transportation and railway corporations have formed a fixed production and circulation system through monopolized operation in a long time. Meanwhile, in the terms of the road transportation that is very open to the society, the state-owned enterprises operate difficultly with heavy loads but private-owned companies are competitive with low costs. These enterprises compete brutally each other with the most primitive methods other than the sophisticated logistical techniques. Where will the Chinese logistics enterprises go? We must think about this question carefully. Many people have considered logistics as a new economic growing point and it has been considered as the backbone industry and has been organized and performed in many areas. A lot of traditional transportation enterprises have been exploring the methods of changing into modern logistics. This thesis mainly compared the difference between the traditional transportation enterprises and modern logistics from their conceptions and their functions in order to find out the way of changing the traditional transportation enterprises into modern logistics. Compared with the foreign logistics enterprises, the logistics enterprises in our country are still in the developing period. At present, there still exist problems, such as: ideas, management harmony, construction of law rules and policies, unfitting to the social development, talents shortage, unhealthy standardization system, low degree of information transmitting and entering of foreign logistics enterprises, etc. These are the unavoidable problems in this process. It is sure to promote the fast and standard development of the logistics industries in our country. In order to catch the opportunity of developing TPL in 21st century, the transportation industry, the inventory management should be adjusted and reformed. The management strategies will be converted from unique function to comprehensive function, transfer from "pulling service"to "pushing service". The most potential sector in the future TPL is the inventory management, distribution network and the management of information system. Under the circumstance, the decision--makers of TPL should realize the opportunity of developing TPL, decide to improve the competitive advantage, including thestrategy, good service to customers, the strategy of supply chain management and the strategy of virtual management. Our government has shown considerable emphasis on the development of logistics enterprises and the topic on the physical distribution development was first presented in the 10th "five-year-plan"in China. The total target and the practical target on logistics were designed and 30 logistics centers will be established and explored to use the 3PL.The further development of logistics enterprises is sure to become an important economic department and a new economic growing point. Its development will improve the national economic running efficiency as a whole, increase the social economic profits directly, and promote the sound development of various departments in national economy. And it will have a great influence on the international competition abilities.
