Study On The Differences Of Economic Development Among Cities In The Northeast Since 1990

As the first level economic region in China, the northeast region in the last over 50years has experienced the brilliancy at the early period of the reform and the high-speedsteady development at the middle period in the last over 50 years, and is at the critical tuningpoint of historic. The layout of economic region system is facing to the biggest change, all thecities are re-ranked, and the economic unbalance problem is more serious. Therefore, thestudy on the difference of regional economy has not only great theoretical significance butalso magnificent practical significance for controlling the economic system and for thesuccessful implement of pushing the regional incorporation.Considering the consistency and integrities of the regions, this thesis selects 34downtowns, including Liaoning, Jilin, Heilongjiang as the unit of study. According to thestatistical analysis, it discusses quantitatively and qualitatively the economic differences of 34cities from 1990 to 2003. Through the present study we can draw the following conclusion: during 14 years, theabsolute and the relative differences of 34 cities represent the same tendency, which is fromlarger to smaller. The total difference presents the wave-type development. In addition, thethree kinds of differences all changed greatly in 2000. The change of the position of cities in1990,2000 and 2003 are same to the result of the economic tendency changes. We can makesure that Dalian and Shenyang are always cities with high level of economic development;Changchun and Ha'erbin are cities with the highest increasing speed in development. Fromthe perspective economic scale, speed, and the quality, the GDP and non-agriculture industryof the economic scale and speed have great relativity;the growth range every economic indexof Changchun is the largest. The industry growth range of Songyuan and Siping is the largest.Compared with the economic scale and speed, the rank of the cities in terms of the qualitity isquite different. Through the permutation and combination of the categories of comprehensiveeconomy and the categories of economic increase, we can classify the 34 cities into 7 types.These categories represent three kinds of layout in space, which are the distinct core-edgestructure, appearance of Harbin-Dalian economic prosperous belt and the decrease tendencyof economic level from south to north.
