With rapid development of economic globalization and consistent advancement ofscience and technology, the regional economic cooperation has become an important way fora district or a city to incorporate itself into a larger scope of development and share thebenefits. It also becomes the sure trend of word economy. Therefore, how to seize thestrategic opportunity of economic development in the first two decades of the new centuryand meet the challenges of economic globalization and technical development poses acentral issue to the central government and all the departments. Considering the currentsituation and the latest achievements of regional cooperation in economy, the paper has madea thorough analysis and summarization in such aspects as present conditions, challengingproblems and coming opportunities. Having reviewed the development of economy andsociety home and abroad which may have important influence over the regional economicalcooperation in Tiangjin, it applies the method of SWOT analysis, often used by enterprises,to the study and evaluation of the Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats in thedevelopment of regional economic cooperation in Tianjin. Then, by using AnalyticalHierarchy Process, the paper makes an attempting judgment in deciding the optimumdirection to develop our competitiveness and render it a key field of carrying out the regionaleconomic cooperation, and work out the guidelines and countermeasures in the next stage ofregional economic cooperation in Tianjin. It is proposed in the paper that Tianjin shouldmake good use of the current foundation and advantages, aiming at developed regions andimportant enterprises and taking decisive and dynamic measures to enlarge the scale ofattracting outside traders and investment;enhancing the regional economic cooperation inpan-Bohai area, especially the key cities of Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei province;consolidating the cooperation between Tianjin and economical hinterland, playing an activerole in the development of the west and the northeast industrial base, expanding theeconomic scope and enlarging the economic scale, promoting the economic level, upgradingthe economic standards, and eventually initiating a new phase of the all-round regionaleconomic cooperation. |
