Abstract/Summary:
It is an old story when talking about the Competition of the International Transportation Center of Northeast Asia. It is obvious that Tianjin, Dalian and Qingdao all show some interests in it, and so do Osaka, Yocohama and Pusan. But for Qingdao, except for the competition of Bohai Sea and the competition from Northeast Asia, it must harmonize the relationship between the three independent container terminal companies as well. It is from this point that this paper chooses the whole Qingdao port as the research object, hoping to find out the right strategy suggestions to each different competition level for Qingdao port. Therefore, this paper has not only a high practical value but also an important theoretical value. This research consists of the following three parts mainly:(1) Internal Competition within Qingdao Port.Firstly, give an analysis on the present status and the future market competition situation of Qingdao port. Then forecast the estimated container thruput of the coming several years according to the analysis on the foreign trade situation of the past years. And then compare the estimated thruput with the planned berth capacity. And find that it is unnecessary for the three container terminal companies to compete with each other, and what they ought to do is to unite and cooperate with each other to build a greater Qingdao port.(2) Competition between ports in Bohai AreaTianjin port is firstly excluded after the SWOT analysis because of its natural and location limitations. Though there is a big gap between Qingdao and Dalian, when compared the two with each other, Dalian still is a big potential threat to Qingdao. It is suggested to Qingdao that the "Compete and cooperate" strategy should be adopted, and only thus can Qingdao win the first place in Bohai area.(3) Competition between ports in Northeast AsiaFirstly give an introduction to the Japanese and South Korean ports especiallyPusan and Kwang Yang, showing the big gap between Qingdao port and the Korea port. Then construct the 5-Power model based on Michael ? E ? Porter's theory. And find that it is forwarders who play a key role in the competition between container terminal hubs. And think at last, Qingdao port should cooperate with forwarders strategically when competing for the International Transportation Center of Northeast Asia.
