Research On The Capital Operation Of The Pawnshop In The South Of Modern Jiangsu Province

As the oldest financial institution in China, the pawnshop was called the bank of the destitute, which calls for a more systematic study of its capital operation. On thebasis of vast original datum, such as old newspaper, magazines……etc, this dissertationprovides an overall research on the capital operation of the pawnshop in the south of Jiangsu province, following the principles of history, fiance , sociology, from the south of modern Jiangsu province(mainly 1840----1937).First, the thesis research systematically on the size, structure of the pawnshop market in the shape of the triangle from city to county. Then study the resource and composition of the pawnshop capital to discover the transformation of the oldest banking institution along with the change of modern society. The emphasis of the thesis is to study the operation of the pawnshop capital and strive for discovering the regulation of the pawnshop capital in debt. Finally, the thesis discusses the risks, incomes of the pawnshop, especially the positive effect, which has being easily neglected by most people. The conclusion of the thesis is that the capital operation of the pawnshop in the south of modern Jangsu province(mainly 1840-1937),which can't be run freely, was effected and controlled by the finance market. The convenience for the mortgagor meets the urgent need of the poor. It still has the actual significance to learn from the capital operation of the pawnshop in the south of modern Jiangsu province(mainly 1840-1937))for the general populace, especially for the farmer in China today.
