With the rapid development of computer technology, information technology, and network technology, people's living standard is continuous improving,and people's living concept has undergone tremendous changes. Comfortable, safe, convenient, environmentally home environment has caused more and more concern. Wireless Sensor Networks are considered to be one of the most important technologies in the 21st century. According to the magazine analysis, WSNs was ranked first in the top ten emerging technologies that have far-reaching impact for human live. Therefore, this paper puts forward the research of Wireless Sensor Networks in home environment. It combines sensor technology, embedded system and Internet technology, and makes home environment monitoring module into network product. It can finish data communication with computer directly, and can achieve real-time monitoring environmental parameters at home.Based on the analysis the shortcomings of LEACH, and according to the characteristics of WSNs in home environment, an improved topology control algorithm called LEACH-ANT was proposed. This algorithm is improved respectively from cluster division, cluster head election, cluster crosstalk, and inter-cluster routing compared to original LEACH. Finally, we use MATLAB do simulation analysis for this algorithm. The results show that the life cycle of the network has been extended successfully by using LEACH-ANT topology control algorithm, and it is very suitable for the home environment which has a little amount of nodes and a smaller area.The home environment monitoring system mentioned in this paper is made up of two parts—the top layer system and the bottom layer system. The bottom layer system consists of ZigBee wireless transmission module, environmental parameters acquisition node module, coordinator nodes module and backplanes module. The combination of these modules can collect home environmental parameters, deploy network using ZigBee protocol, and transmit requirement data. The top layer system is mainly finished remote monitoring of home environment parameters and alert instruction. It includes real-time parameter display module, waveform analyzer module, parameter setting module, and event alarm module, etc. The top layer system is developed based on VB, it is very convenient to achieve home environment parameters analysis and alert instruction.Finally, the experiment and debugging of the whole home environment monitoring WSNs evaluating is finished. The results show that the system could implement the functions of data-acquisition at home environment, Ethernet communication and remote monitoring and so on. The system has the characteristics of easy expansion, telecommunication, friendly man-computer interaction, high reliability, etc.
