In company with the development of the petroleum & gas industry in the world, the leakage accident about methane increased with each passing day. It's becoming serious problem that how to detect the methane and fuel leakage in industrial zone & residential area's duct and the accumulation of methane in mine. More seriously, these detection equipments have big body and high cost and need adjust half the time, it can't meet the requirement of detecting some harmful gas in people's daily life. In order to enhance people's safety monitoring ability, it's exactly need developing a new integration, miniaturization, low servicing optical gas monitoring device.The thesis of methane concentration at home and abroad infrared detecting method for research in the laboratory made the research base on early. Used the new infrared gas detecting technology which infrared optics principle and data processing to design a portable infrared methane Alarm. Infrared Methane Alarm has some advantages such as not-easy ageing, rapid response, high sensitivity, stabilization and strong anti-jamming capability. This dissertation includes Alarm overall program designs, the safety circuit, explosion-proof shell, choosed the appropriate explosion-proof battery, and designed infrared optical chamber used the software of zemax, and then introduced the temperature compensation combined with neural RBF network and the alarm's low-power designs. As a result of it's portable, the alarm designed with menu to enable users easy to use. Annunciator has some functions such as concentration in excess of alarm with sound and light, also has real-time detection of battery voltage, the remaining working hours, under-voltage shutdown and password functions. Under the existing experimental conditions, completed assembly the alarm device prototype and tested related experiments.The optimal Design of Portable Methane Annunciator is completed in this paper. At the same time the high price and cost of the Photo Ionization sensor are also reduced. It is a very important step for promoting its market process.
