With the advancement of industrial 4.0. improve production efficiency, and ensure the safety of industry is being paid more and more attention in the field of industrial control. Safety explosion-proof as a kind of the most reliable and safe explosion-proof technologies, was used by many manufacturers. As field bus technology matures, it has become an indispensable member in industry communication. MODBUS is famous for openness and high reliability in automotive, marine, medical and industrial instrument equipment and so on.This topic is aimed to research and design of intrinsically safety barrier based on Modbus. In the first, it is introduced the development of industrial field bus, and the characteristic of the MODBUS bus, The second, specific to intrinsically safety explosion-proof technology, electromagnetic compatibility technology and so on have carried on the thorough research, give a numerical algorithm for intrinsically safe product design, on this basis, it makes use of TI company’s 24 high precision A/D converter ADS 1247 and 16-bit MCU MSP430F169 to deal with input signal. This article gives a scheme about the hardware and software design, make use of the bus communication system for product testing, by obtaining experimental data contrast product performance.During the topics research, it solved some problems. For example, it realize the high-speed analog signal sampling. So safety barrier can be high-speed, distribution of the Modbus communication. The hardware circuits meet the requirements to power, input and the output are isolated from each other, and solve Ann explosion-proof problems. Therefore, design this safety barrier have a broad customer and market to meet people’s growing needs for safety reliability.
