With more and more universities complete the construction of the campus network, how to use the broadband network rationally and efficiently has been a foucs of attention increasingly. The campus IPTV is emerging as the times require and it's gradually becoming an indispensable part of campus network. EPG is an important part of IPTV system, and it isn't only convenient for users to browse, search, order, collection and watch television program or video file, but also for users to enjoy other value-added business provided by IPTV system. For IPTV users, EPG system is the portal system to access IPTV.Through an in-depth study about IPTV and EPG, we found that with the development of IPTV's operations and continue changes of users'requirement, EPG system is the fastest part in IPTV system changing. Correspondingly, it's also required the EPG system should be developed rapidly and should be easy maintenance and functions expansion following. At the same time, EPG system is the portal of IPTV system to complete the directly interaction with user, so, response users'operations rapidly is particularly important. The best user experience is also an important goal in design and implementing of EPG system.Based on practical project, this paper designed and implemented the EPG frontend system in campus IPTV. When design this system, we fully considerate the following maintenance and functions expansion. Hierarchical architecture and modular function provide a convenient to system upgrade latter. At the same time, this paper caches the structural EPG information to enhance the responsiveness of system, providing the best user experience.
