The Application Of Virtual Reality In Interior Design

With the rapid development of social economics, virtual reality techniques, which gain more and more attention, are applied in all kinds of fields and areas. Compared with other technologies, the virtual reality technology is of great interaction, immersion feeling and more real-time. Because of the above three features, the appliance of virtual reality techniques in architecture building area has a bright wide future, especially in the interior design and decoration field. By using the virtual reality technology, designers and customers can have vivid feelings about the interior layout.In this paper, the virtual reality technology is applied to the interior design and decoration after thoroughly reviewing its application background and development situation. Firstly, VRML (Virtual Reality Modeling Language) and its related knowledge about nodes as well as voice skills are introduced in detail. Then, 3DS MAX modeling tools and VRML are used to establish an interior virtual scene and IBR roaming technique is employed to the scene aiming to improve user's visual experience. Finally, X3D technique is brought into the process of establishing the module and thus can extend the established virtual scene to the internet by combing with Web technologies. Experiment shows that improved virtual scene based on the X3D technique can show clearly multi-dimensional space and can be easily extended to the web applications by connecting to the internet. Meanwhile, the established online virtual scene has good user interface which helps users wandering the interior space at pleasure. In the future, the powerfull network abilities and conituously added new features will promote the development and application of the virtual reality techniques.
