Continuously come forth in technology of computer, network, communication, sensor and micro-electronics has promoted the development of low power, low-cost, multifunctional sensor technology, which can collect information, process data, communicate in wireless in very small volume. The application research of wireless sensor network which compose of micro-sensor nodes focus the attention of relative domain. The sensor nodes which are volume tiny and energy limited often work on complicated and dangerous regions and their energies could not be supplemented or replaced. So looking for perfect topology control which can balance the energy consume of the sensor nodes become the target of the research in wireless sensor network.In this thesis, the basic concepts of the wireless sensor network topology control and topology control algorithms are introduced firstly, meanwhile, point out the challenge of the topology control technology. Base on the study of typical clustering algorithms, the thesis synthesize two research directions of hierarchical topology control mechanism and power control mechanism, and provides an degree adaptive clustering algorithm based on maximum link degree clustering using the reverse power control technology of CDMA system for reference. After analyzing the typical hierarchical topology control algorithms LEACH, the thesis improves it with the power model. The improved algorithm considers the remnant energy and the times already be a cluster head of the sensor nodes in choosing the head of the cluster, and control the size of cluster ,then choose the spare cluster head, so that can reduce the frequently chosen of the cluster head. The improved algorithms based on the energy balance are simulated on NS2. The results of the simulation show that the improved algorithm can balance energy consumption of nodes and prolog the lifetime of the whole network. Finally, the thesis gave the application and realization of the personal positional system that is the application example of wireless sensor network.
