As modern cultures make a profound impact on traditional ones, and people begin to live an affluent life, some excellent regional culture and spirit are gradually absent among middle school students. Thus, it has become an urgent problem to be solved to strengthen humanity education and improve humanity qualities of middle school students and the youth generations.At present, humanity education in our country is still carried out with web-based courses or network communities involving pictures, sounds and videos. For lack of immersion, interest, and interaction, these learning environments are difficult to stimulate multisensory participation or motivate students to learn. However, we can create a three-dimensional humanity learning environment with high immersion by constructing a virtual humanity education situation based on Web3D virtual reality technology. In this virtual environment, through all kinds of interactive operation, role play, video and audio chat and real-time communication, students will deepen their feelings towards others, learn humanity knowledge with great energy and zeal and develop their active learning ability. So, it is expected to reach an edutainment effect for humanity education.Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) for humanity education can stimulate interests, arouse enthusiasms, mobilize students to participate actively and immerse themselves in learning, all of which are what educators aspire for in learning process. To be effective and interesting, an excellent-designed humanity VLE needs to be capable of inspiring motivations and feature immersions, in which students will be able to get involved in its design, construct their own humanity knowledge system and improve humanity quality.During the process of analyzing how to ensure immersion experience, learning interest, enthusiasm, emotion development and individual practical ability, it is found that the theories of experience cone and constructivism are closely connected with humanity education VLE. Direct and concrete experience is more acceptable to students, and high immersion and rich interaction are conducive to attract students to energetically get involved in learning and construct their own knowledge system. Besides, the strategy of bringing in online games to VLE, oriented towards interesting learning, succeeds in stimulating motivation and enthusiasm in entertainment learning, thus realizing an effect of teaching through entertainment.Based on the above analysis, in this paper the author elaborates the development of Web3D-based virtual reality technology and virtual learning environment, states the development actuality of humanity education VLE at home and abroad, and details what a typical VLE is. Besides, the author analyzes the theoretical and technological bases for the design of humanistic education VLE and proposes a series of development procedures and design strategies. Then, on the background of education and science planning task "Tansmission and Development of Regional Culture and Spirit", the author constructs and realizes a Yiwu regional culture VLE, targeting middle school students. Finally, taking the transmission and development of Yiwu regional culture and spirit in middle schools for example, the author gives an account of how to make the best of Yiwu regional culture VLE, providing reference for humanistic education and expecting to realize an effect of teaching humanity knowledge through lively activities.
