Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology is a contact-less data communication technology to identify and control the target via spatial coupling of radio signals. RFID system is widely used in industry and daily life, with many advantages such as long reading range, short response time, large quantity of data, good anti-interference performance and low cost. As a key component of RFID system, tag antenna is a important air interface between RFID reader and tag having great influence on the system performance. In practice, tag antenna needs to connect to tag chip directly, so it is hard to make good impendence matching between them. As a result, it has become a hot point of research to design good impendence matching antenna. On the other hand, RFID tag is directly pasted on the metal surface usually, and metal seriously affects the performance of tag antenna, so it has become another hot point of research to design the tag antenna which works in multi-application environment like metal surface.For the hot points above, based on the designing technology of dielectric resonator antenna, this dissertation makes intensive research on tag antenna which has good impendence matching and works in multi-application environment. The principal tasks are as follows:1. Introduce the development history, composition and working principle of RFID system above all. Secondly, summarize the current situation and development tendency of research of RFID tag antenna. And then, analyze the working principle and designing method of dielectric resonator antenna. After that, propose a RFID tag antenna solution and designing technology based on dielectric resonator antenna.2. The dielectric resonator RFID tag antenna works on metal surface in the microwave band(2.40GHz~2.483GHz)is proposed. This antenna has a high gain and a compact size. The simulation result shows that, both in air and on metal surface, the bandwidth of this tag antenna is 2.40GHz~2.53GHz (when RL≤-10dB, or VSWR≤2.0), and the calculated maximum reading range is above 0.8 meter.3. The dielectric resonator RFID tag antenna works on metal surface with a matching network in the UHF band of China and North America is proposed. This antenna has a good matching with the chip, and also has a high gain and a compact size. The simulation result shows that, in air, the bandwidth of this tag antenna is 897MHz~955MHz (when RL≤-10dB, or VSWR≤2.0), and on the metal surface, the bandwidth of this tag antenna is 902MHz~951MHz (when RL≤-10dB,or VSWR≤2.0). The calculated maximum reading range is above 8 meter both in air and on metal surface.
