As the P2P technology has decentralized, scalability, strong, robustness, load balancing and other technical features and advantages, P2P streaming media applications on the Internet become more and more popular. However, P2P traffic occupy much bandwidth of Backbone network.The inherent disorder and imperceptibility of P2P technology make it difficult to manage and supervise P2P traffic. Prohibition of P2P services suffers the user and legal resistance. It is important to optimize and localize the P2P traffic, establish and improve management, billing, statistics and other functions of value-added services such as P2P streaming media.It is an urgent need to achieve the purpose of buliding manageable P2P network.P4P (Proactive network Provider Participation for P2P) technology is designed to strengthen the communications between network operators and P2P applications.It can reduce bandwidth pressure on the backbone network and operating costs, and improve P2P transmission performance. IMS (IP Multimedia Subsystem) is introduced by 3GPP(3rd Generation Partnership Project) in its Release 5 version to support IP multimedia services. The PCC architecture (Policy Control and Charging) of R7 version has attracted the industry's attention. PCC network enables operators to control the P2P service. Therefore, the P4P technology and PCC architecture are studied in this paper.The work and the contributions are outlined as follows.1. P2P streaming media principles and prtocals are extensively and systematically investigated. The framework of traditional P2P streaming media system is designed.2. P4P system architecture and application services is designed. P2P streaming media system architecture based on P4P technology is studied. The service discovery of iTracker and iTracker controlling process has been analysed. 3. P4P technology is integrated with the PCC architecture. The IMS-integrated and Manageable P2P Streaming Media System is designed, including the overall function design, architecture design, P4P protocol interface design and optimization algorithm design. The relevant service process is also designed. Finally, we use P2P simulation tool—General P2P Simulator (GPS) for the verification.
