With the rapid development of communication technologies, the rapid promotion of various business, especially in recent years, explosive growth of IP services, the user makes the ever-increasing demand for bandwidth backbone network operators expansion under increasing pressure. As the cost of the construction of trunk cable is very high, the trunk optical cable operator resources are very limited, so use of wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) technology to solve the backbone network expansion problem is that the best option.WDM backbone network technology makes each of the transmission capacity of fiber a huge upgrade, but the WDM system itself does not have a good self-healing system. The backbone network expansion due to pressure from carriers at an early stage would have a large-scale deployment of these networks have no self-healing capacity of WDM networking equipment, and the top carries a lot of business, a number of key routes on the WDM system work channel numbers tend to as high as tens of waves, the reliability of the WDM system, a more strict requirements.Communication network capacity is important, but to some extent, and network security operations and network capacity are equally important. All along, the quality of service communications network operators are all of great concern to the problem. Service quality, is a communications network as a security mechanism is to ensure the safe operation of the means of communication network, more and more of the network needs a reliable and efficient protection system to enhance its service quality. According to statistics, each year lead to the failure causes of transmission networks, fiber fracture accounted for most of proportion. Outdoor fiber optic cable is easy because of natural disasters, theft and other construction, as well as external reasons, fracture, while the large-scale operators have deployed most of the WDM system and has not addressed the failure of such measures for self-healing. So if we can solve the fault lines in optical fiber WDM network when the route re-select the problem of the WDM network can be a good viability.This paper is mainly comes up with solutions of the design of optical line auto-swiching system, offer a self-healing ability to WDM network. The design its based on the deficiencies of WDM network security as well as the failure characteristics of optical network,considering the cost of protection.The system is to designed for but not limited in the application of WDM network.
