With the development of network and the increasing numbers of new traffic, future transport network needs to realize the scheduling of large particles so as to improve the intelligence and survivability. Transport-MPLS network is this kind of network.Based on the well-known IP/MPLS technology and standard,T-MPLS provides simple connection-oriented technology mode, operation administration and maintenance, protection and switching functions, which are the characteristics of transport network.This paper consists of two parts, self-similarity and automatic protection switching in T-MPLS.Firstly, it introduces self-similar traffic including its mathematical definition, statistics'characters and the influence of the self-similarity on network.Secondly, it discusses a new method to build a self-similar model with OPNET.The other part of this paper introduces Automatic Protection Switching protocol in T-MPLS which a kind of protective mechanism and can provide T-MPLS network with strong fault-tolerant ability. This paper presents the referenced model and one implementation method of protection and switching based on OPNET.The contents focuses on 3 points as follows:1.Research on Self-Similar traffic, including its basic theory, and the modern model of it2.A new method to build self-similar model with OPNET based on T-MPLS network and the results'analysis.3.Research and simulation T-MPLS network automatic protection switching.
