With the trend of IP-based networks today is more and more obvious, there is an urgent need to achieve a kind of technology that support transmission network to transmit IP data in packets format, and to ensure the transmission of OAM, protection, and performance requirements. With the development of the technology, the concept of packet transport network (PTN) comes out. The implementation which has the most development prospects is MPLS-TP, in which protection switching mechanism is the key technologies that ensure the survival of network.On the history of the development of MPLS-TP, this paper first introduced the proposal and development of PTN, including its principles, architecture and application status, and describes the evolution of its two implementations PBB-TE and MPLS-TP/T-MPLS. Then introduces MPLS-TP technology, including its technical features, the standardization process, hierarchical structure, service adaptation technology, the label forwarding mechanism and signaling mechanisms. Then analyzed the survival strategies of the MPLS-TP, including the needs of its protection mechanism, protection switching trigger mechanism and protection switching principle, focus on the linear protection mechanisms1:1protection and1+1protection, the single ring protection mechanisms1:1protection and1+1protection, shared ring protection mechanisms Steering and Wrapping, and fast reroute mechanism Bypass and Detour. Then describes the Design and Implementation of MPLS-TP protection mechanisms, including mechanisms introduced, technology requirement? the scenario, the system architecture and system implementation. Then proposed a shared MESH protection switching mechanism based on the linear protection, based on the research on the existing network mesh topology, combined with the demand of network protection on the existing network, the mesh network is divided into several subnets, deployed linear protection mechanism in different subnets respectively, then assign an LSP as a common working LSP protection channel, in order to switch service to protection channel quickly in the event of a network failure. This mechanism will also set the bandwidth of the protection LSP to the sum of bandwidth of all protected LSP, to give100%service protection in case of multiple channels failure at the same time, in order to achieve the shared MESH protection switching mechanism on the existing network. Finally, proposed the test cases and results of protection switching mechanism for MPLS-TP during the internship, and also proposed a topology for MPLS-TP protection switching test in an existing network.
