The thesis takes the implementation of the digital baseband transmission system as an example, to discuss and to research on FPGA hardware design methods, as well as on the combination of FPGA design and scientific computing software simulation. Furthermore, as the improvement of the traditional design procedure, new design methods that are suitable for the characteristics and requirements of this pre-design system are proposed. The paper mainly includes three aspects:method of FPGA design combined with Matlab software simulation; method of FPGA design based on DSP Builder toolbox; the research of method of FPGA design based on Scilab/Scicos-HDL toolbox.In the design methods based on the combination of Matlab and FPGA, the design provides the filter tap coefficients using Matlab simulation in the beginning, then it completes the roots and logarithm calculation using Matlab instead of FPGA, and output the results in real-time. By the end of the design it uses Matlab to verify the correctness of the design and to analysis the performance of the system. In addition, this article also provides an user interface for the auxiliary function of Matlab during the FPGA design process to enhance program portability. Finally, the design is downloaded to the FPGA chip, and the output waveform is observed using the oscilloscope, and the performance of the system is analyzed based on the statistics of bit error rate.In the research on the design method based on DSP Builder, the significance of the design method and design process are discussed at first, and then based on the design of the digital baseband transmission system,the application and the realization of the design method are described. And at last the advantages and disadvantages of the design method is summarized based on the design process.In account of the shortcomings of the above two methods, the paper gives a design method based on the Scilab/Scicos-HDL toolbox. First, the paper tests the performance of the toolbox taking the digital baseband transmission system as an example, and focuses on the design technology of the Scicos-HDL library modules according to the problem of the lack of them.And by taking the modules design of the digital baseband transmission system designed into the Scicos-HDL library modules as an example, the paper provides the function of simulation verification in Scilab and automatical generation of VHDL code for the system.Final, by the application of all the three methods in the design of the digital baseband transmission system, the paper discusses the advantages and disadvantages of every method, and provides a reference for the research on the combined simulation of FPGA hardware design and scientific computing softwares.
