| In recent years, with the rapid development of mobile communications, effective maintenance and management of GSM networks play an important role in the network operators'tasks. GSM network optimization directly faces various entities and resources of the target networks that have diverse types, various functions and involve wide range data with complex structures. The traditional data organization and storage method mainly use the relational model and data inquiry technology and data exchange platforms are unable to meet the ever increasing demand and affect the efficiency of system development as well as system maintainability and expansibility to some extent. Therefore, this paper attempts to solve data management issues in GSM network optimization by means of XML technology, including XML-based data organization, storage, query, processing and exchange.First of all, this article discusses the organization and storage of the resource data and traffic parameter data, which have a natural hierarchy and specific-manufacturer-related data type and volume, demonstrating typical semi-structured characteristics. XML model's hierarchical structure and strong ability of self-describing and self-expansion are well suited for dealing with the data with hierarchical and semi-structured characteristics. This paper set up a hybrid data model, which integrates the XML model and the relational model, to organize data in GSM network optimization. Then, XML-based data query and processing are investigated. An XML-based query editor is implemented to meet the actual needs of data management in network optimization. The XML-based query editor defines the table structure in XML and allows users to customize the query template, thus effectively reducing the workload of the interface development and improving the system scalability and maintainability. In addition, applications of the XML indexing is also discussed, which effectively raises the efficiency of data access. After that XML-based data exchange is discussed. XML-based data exchange is mainly used to exchange data among the GSM network management systems and the GSM network optimization platform. The input template and output templates are defined, which should be commonly complied with among all systems, and are used to accomplish data exchange among different platforms. Finally, the paper comes to a conclusion that XML-based data management effectively improves organization and storage efficiency of data as well as query and processing performance in GSM network optimization. It is more flexible and convenient to exchange data among different platforms, and the platform enjoys good flexibility and scalability. |
