The Research And Realization Of The GSM Cell Coverage Analyzation System

These days China has become one of the countries that enjoy the fastest speed of the development of the mobile communication in the world. We had the biggest mobile network in the world, including GSM and CDMA network. For the GSM network, after the large investment and construction before, the focus of work of the telecom operators has changed from network construction to network management. In the meantime, the management style has transformed from the extensive way to the fine way. As a result, network optimization is extremely important in the daily work. Besides, the 3G network is in a rapid period of development, the network optimization of the GSM network has great referential value for that of the 3G network. In the mobile network, every cell has its own coverage area. one of the factors that affect the quality of the mobile communication is the problem of the cell coverage, for exemple, cross-boundary coverage, critical coverage, poor coverage etc. So how to determin the coverage area of the cells in the mobile network is a key point in network optimization.In the chapter 4 of this article, a new method to analyze the cell coverage area has been proposed. Based on large amounts of measured data, this method combines several factors like the downlink level of the cells, the sample points number and the distance between the cells. Through this method, we can get the cell coverage map. In this map, one can easily discover the cell which has coverage problems. Comparing with the traditional way to get the cell converage like drive test, this method has several advantages like lower cost, intime updating and intuitive way of result showing. In chapter 5, using the method described in chapter 4, a system has been developed. In chapter 2 and chapter 3, some basic principles, primary technology and development environment has been introduced.
