In recent years, along with the development of Internet technology, P2P (peer to peer) network is growing rapidly with its own advantages on user scale, the application type as well as the flow. Although the rapid development of P2P applications riches the content of the Internet, but the rapid growth of P2P flow and unlimited bandwidth have caused a lot of negative effects. For better use of the Internet and in order to limit unlimited use of network bandwidth by P2P traffic, we must identify and monitor P2P traffic. Network television is an important application of P2P streaming media technology and the recognition and monitoring of it is imminent. The main P2P flow identification methods contain the recognition technology based on the flow characteristics and the one based on deep packet inspection. Take the mainstream QQLive network television as the research object by combining with the advantages of two identification methods, a method based on active monitoring of P2P streaming media content detection technology is put forward in the paper and the technical innovation is active monitoring.The communication technology of QQlive was studied first in the paper, and then the basic business recognition method of QQlive was put forward, as well as the characteristics message analysis of the QQlive communication process. Finally, the active monitoring based P2P streaming media content detection system was designed and implemented, the core idea of which is to forge the client to send the server request packet and receive messages the server returns. The system acquires the channel list and program information, at the same time monitors the viewing user information. Theoretical analysis and experiments demonstrate that the active monitoring based method has higher controllability and accuracy in comparison with the passive monitoring based method.
