The acquisition and disposal system of streaming media video image can continually receive, identify and save the mainstream streaming media format which is popular on the networks presently. It also can accomplish rapid retrieval and orientation of images, for user's saving valuable media information conveniently and improving the retrieval efficiency of target.The paper discusses the corresponding theory, methods and specific realization of the acquisition and disposal system of streaming media video image. It starts with streaming transfer theory, thoroughly studies network protocol and mainstream streaming media format. From the reverse angle, it presents an acquisition method of streaming media video image based on capturing packet techniques in application layer, designs the architecture of acquisition system of streaming media video image, accomplishes the protocol analysis, format analysis, data interception and saving of streaming media data. Among those, protocol analysis and format analysis are the foundation of data capturing, and they present important reference gist for data saving.The disposal part of video image mainly studies content-based video retrieval. First, the paper discusses the architecture of content-based retrieval and structure of video data. Then, it discusses several algorithms, such as Scene-Change-Detection, representative frame pick-up, characteristic pick-up, similarity matching, etc. Among those, the first three algorithms are the key to video retrieval, they determine the precision and efficiency of video retrieval. At last, in view of the advantages of the algorithm which is simple and high-efficient based on compression field characteristic during video retrieval, it designs and implements a video retrieval system based on DCT coefficient in MPEG compression field by analyzing MPEG compression algorithm and MPEG video streaming structure, verifies the feasibility of the video retrieval algorithm designed by the paper.
