To solve the problem of low precision, low efficiency, difficult to control, health hazards and security risk in manual operation of the discharge in the concrete mixing station, the technology of machine vision applied to discharge system of concrete is proposed in this paper. The technology and methodology in this reseach can be adopted to the discharge of other similar solid mixture.The hardware and software frame of vision discharge system, which is PC-SDK-based, have been designed in this paper, including the experiment equipment, the system work process, the data acquisition, the image processing algorithm and the camera calibration. In the term of image processing, the research is focused on the different image segmentation algorithm, the difference-image and the texture-description have been used respectively in the situation of discharge and vehicles movement.And the proper image processing step is has been designed in this paper. Furthermore, the binary-image-methods has been used used before texture-description, in order to reduce the computational.Finally, under the appropriate hierarchical-data-structure, the complete segmentation has been done by the way of split-and-merge.The image processing and thedischarge experiment have been simulated with the equipment using the hybrid programming of Matlab and Visual C++ software,verifying the feasibility and the validity of the machine-vision-based discharge system of the concrete mixing station.
