The deformation monitoring for large-scale structures, for example, the skyscraper, large-scale bridge, ultra-high tower of power transmission line and so on, are very common and important to projects. It is urgently needed that how to more accurately monitor the deformation scale of these large-scale structures around the clock. In response to this demand, the article presents a technology that can accurately measure the micro-deformation scale, and create a prototype. It works on the C-band, and has characteristics of simple structure, small size, easy to install and high accuracy. It can be used to accurate monitor the deformation level of large-scale structures around the clock.In this paper, a lot of things, for example formulas, schematics, circuit diagrams, waveforms and so on, describe the working principle of deformation measurement system, system structure and work processes. According to the assembly structure, the system is divided into the remote antenna unit (RAU) and the local antenna unit (LAU). The radio frequency (RF) circuits of the transceiver and the intermediate frequency (IF) signal processing methods of the LAU are all given a more detailed description in this paper. Main works and innovations in this paper lie in:Firstly, structures of the commonly used transmitter and the radio signal path loss model are analyzed, then, the model of the system is established. According to this model, this paper analyzes the measurement accuracy of the system. According to the designing needs of the project, this paper designed the RF channel parameters of the LAU and RAU.Secondly, in the course of the designing prototype signal source, this paper invents a 5640MHz RF signal source using a transistor circuit and a 12 frequency multiplier. In the IF signal processing of the LAU, this paper invents a kind of phase detector that can reflect the phase difference accurately.Finally, The key modules of the hardware circuits are made and debugged, and then carries out the system-level performance testing and data analysis. On the basis, we carry out the general assembly of the circuit, and make a deformation measurement system prototype, and then carry out outdoor-experiments. According to the testing result reports, this paper brings forward some advice against the problems of the deformation of the measurement system proposed in this paper. A prospect of the future direction of the deformation monitoring system is listed in the last.
