Based on the management, library science, organizational behavior, sociology and other theories, this thesis analyzes the patterns and causes of library conflict by using the methods of literature analysis, comparative study and typical survey. It also probes into the application of conflict management theory in the field of library science.This thesis focuses on the causes of library conflict and the solutions to it. The author points out that the library conflict is caused by eight factors: the shortage of funds, the absence of organizational culture, the influence of traditional culture, the backwardness of management level, the imperfection of relevant laws, the fierce competitive environment, and the librarian themselves. With regard to the solutions to the library conflict, the author proposes seven basic principles: the reader supremacy, the humanistic management, the dynamic management, the efficiency priority, the effective prevention, treating in different ways, and the appropriate ignorance. The author also puts forward two methods of conflict management: traditional method and modern method, which provide reference for the librarians in the conflict management practice .
