As early as the end of 19 century, people had discovered the distortion problem of voltage and current existing in the distribution system when the alternating current arisen as a newly motive form. With the gradually development of the modern industry, the problem of harmonic distortion in the electric power system has been more and more serious, especially with the increasing of the nonlinear loads' numbers. They even threaten the normal run of power system and other equipments. The harmonic analysis has already been an important research task in the field of electric power system. The most important method of restraining harmonics is to configure passive power filters, because it is simple configuration, convenient maintenance, low cost and etc.Regard the oil-field power system as the significance of research the harmonic, this paper analyzed the measured harmonic data of the oil field power system and studied the models of harmonic source, elements of system, passive power filters and its optimizing configuration. At the same time, applied the Model analysis to detect the harmonic resonance in system, also, detect the system which deploying the passive power filters. This paper proposes a new strategy to optimal passive filter performance by the Model analysis. To meet the harmonic voltage distortion limits and security constraints with a minimum total investment cost.At the end of the paper, three example of the distribution system is done. The instance shows that the calculation method is efficiency and practicability.
