The key of remote diagnosis lies in data communications. So the data transmission technology is involved. The core task of this project is to realize communications and approach the ultimate purpose of remote diagnosis through selecting appropriate communication mediums and adopting reasonable communication methods.The public telephone network of which the popularizing rate has been very high in China's cities so far has been adopted as the remote transmission medium in this project. It is not necessary to set up dedicated wires and occupy the frequency sources of microwaves by using the existing telephone network to realize communications. Meanwhile, it is a kind of very economical and effective communication method to achieve remote monitoring and control within a province or across provinces by making the most of the existing telephone network. The telephone communications has entered the times of program-controlled switching. Its technology is more advanced. Its speed is higher. Its capacity is larger. The accuracy and speed of data transmissions could be both ensured at the same time.The diagnostic method that is suitable for the system has been selected according to the basic principles of the common fault diagnostic methods at the beginning of the design of the system. Then the reliability of the system has been analysed. And related designs have been carried out to improve the reliability.The on-site monitoring part has been added in order to extend the functions of the system in the design of the system. Thus, the system not only has the function of remote diagnosis, but also has the function of on-site on-line monitoring. It makes that the users could monitor and control the running status of the field equipments instantaneously. The small faults could be found promptly when the equipments have faults. And it is not necessary to find the existing of faults after the equipments stop working due to catastrophic accidents. Unnecessary losses could be reduced.The control of an intelligent valve control system has been taken as a typical system design in this project. While an open system has been designed actually. And the system could be used for various equipments so long as the communication protocols used are the same and some small changes have been done to the monitoring interface. The availability and practicability of the entire remote diagnostic system have been improved greatly.
