With the rapid growth of IP serves, greater communication capability is required for the communication network. In the bone network, the transmission rate has been up to 10Tb/s based on WDM and advanced modulation technologies. However, the switching node and the access network nearly by the consumers are becoming bottleneck in the whole communication network. Recently, the optical label switching system has become a potential switching scheme for its inherited idea of packet switch and its all-optical processing ability. As to the access network, the OCDMA access network with the great advantage of abandon access ability and flexible bandwidth assignment has become important candidate for the next generation access network.Grounded on the background discussed above, the dissertation mainly focuses on the switching network and access network which are based on OC technology to achieve all-optical switching and large access capability. Research significance and a review of research status are summarized, and the core technologies of OC with one-dimension phase OC encoding/decoding are introduced and analyzed.Based on that background investigation and theory analyzing, the OC label switching network structure is researched and the switching structure is designed. After that, the OC label switching network simulation system is setup, and its packet loss probability and switching capability are analyzed. The research results demonstrate the feasibility of the switching network scheme with OC label. On the other hand, since many problems are existed in the traditional OCDMA network with OOK modulation, this paper proposes a new OCDMA access network scheme based DQPSK modulation. The DQPSK-OCDMA scheme is designed and the simulation system is setup. Furthermore, the performance of the proposed DQPSK-OCDMA system is compared with the traditional OOK-OCDMA system in the aspects of spectral efficiency, security, threshold setting of the receiver, sensitivity of the receiver and noise tolerating ability. The result shows that the OCDMA access network based on DQPSK modulation has the advantages of~3dB enhanced spectral efficiency, higher security performance, fixed receiver threshold, more sensitive receiver, better robust performance to system noise and so on.
