In recent years, with the continuous development of the Internet, the number of access network users and users demand for network bandwidth continue to grow, the network is developed in the direction of high speed, large capacity and multiple services. In order to implement multiple services transmission, security guarantee and control management efficiently, carrying multiple services in a broadband access network and implementation of wide area coverage is an effective access solution. At present, standardization organizations and operators have been actively promoting research on next-generation optical networking. The ring-tree optical metro aggregation access network, Using WDM, TDM technology and optical amplification technology, supporting for multiple services, large capacity and wide area coverage, is considered as an ideal solution for the next-generation optical access Network. Due to the increase of network capacity and the number of users, the negative impact and economic losses of network failures will be more pronounced, so the research of protection switching mechanism has a very important significance. In addition, due to the expanding of the network size and the increase of equipment, the network energy consumption and operating cost increase significantly. So, the study of energy saving mechanism has a long-term significance.This paper makes research on optical metro aggregation access network architecture, protection switching mechanism and energy saving mechanism, the main research work is as follows:1. Participate in designing a kind of ring-tree T/WDM optical metro aggregation access network architecture, based on wavelength routing and transformation, and analyzes its normal operation mechanism. Finally, simulation is carried out to verify the physical layer solutions.2. We design a kind of "OLT centralized control and coordinate with RN protection switching" mechanism, in which OLT centralized control and coordinated with RN to protect the network, based on designed network architecture. Besides, We carry out a detailed analysis of the robustness and reliability, analysis indicates that the protection switching mechanism has a strong robustness.3. A kind of10G EPON hybrid sleep energy-saving scheme is proposed, which is based on fast switching mode and distinguish business priorities. Also, we conduct a simulation of energy saving effect, the simulation results show that the proposed energy-saving scheme can meet the business QoS, and the energy saving ratio can reach72.9%to79.9%.
