With the rapid development of mobile communication technologies, the 3rd generation mobile communication technologies have been evolved into commercial deployment stage. However, some ineluctable limitations are involved in the performance of 3G technology. Especially in the aspect of high speed data transmission, 3G system cannot already meet the increasing user requirement of high speed data service such as multimedia. Therefore, many institutes and organizations focus on the research on the 4th generation mobile communication system. This thesis is mainly based on the National 863 Project "Research and Experimental System Development for Gbps Wireless Transmission Key Technologies". Typical services which adapt to the 4th generation mobile communication system are studied. MAC layer protocol stack in Gbps wireless communication system is designed and developed. The main contents of this thesis are described as below. The development trend of the current 3rd generation mobile communication technologies, local area network technologies and user services are inv estigated. A type of service which adapts to the 4th generation mobile communication system is proposed and its applications under different typical scenarios are described in details. One of these scenarios is simulated via computer network. The convenience and easiness of user experience can be perceived by this service. Meanwhile, the necessary of the 4th generation mobile communication system (Gbps) of supporting this service is validated.Under the current UPnP network environment, an AHP-based terminal selection algorithm is proposed to fulfill the optimization requirement of the device selection from various devices with the same services so as to improve user experience. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm is effective in increasing once service success rate (OSSR) and user preference matching degree (UPMD) as well as improving user's satisfaction degree and service experience.MAC Layer functionalities and modules of the hardware platform of the Gbps wireless transmission system are designed and developed. MAC protocol stack is developed by C language in WorkBench Integrated Development Environment based on VxWorks embedded operation system. Furthermore, the service demonstration platform based on the Gbps system is established and implemented.
