In recent years, as the rapid development of the mobile communications industry in the worldwide and the fast growth of the mobile communication users, spectrum resources is becoming increasingly strained. In order to reduce the interference between antennas working in different frequencies and cost, the broadband antennas are required, which can meet the requirements of different communication systems. Therefore, a wide-band or dual-band antenna is proposed.In mobile communication, as a supplement to the base station, the repeater system has a fairly good coverage to the blind spots and weak signal area in a mobile communication net. And the repeater antenna is an important part of the repeater system, which has a direct affect on coverage and signal quality.This paper starts with a brief introduction of mobile communication and gives a detailed introduction of repeater system in mobile communication and the development and applications of dual-band and broadband antenna. Then, the basic theory of electromagnetic fields and antenna are presented and analyzed, as well as the electromagnetic simulation and the basic antenna measurement techniques.A novel cylinder shape dual-band antenna is given. Electromagnetic simulation software is used for the simulation and optimization of the dual-band antenna. And the impact of the antenna's key dimensions to the performance is researched and summarized to get the optimal size of the antenna structure. Finally, the structural dimensions meeting with requirements are achieved, and the antenna prototype is fabricated. The detailed measurements of the antenna, including VSWR, directivity and gain are processed. The measurement results are compared with the electromagnetic simulation results and analyzed. At last, the proposed antenna satisfies the working requirement of wireless communication system. It covers all domestic mobile communication bands and can be shared by multiple systems.
