Wireless sensor network, which combines sensor technology, information processing technology and network communication technology is a new field in information technology area. It has potential practical value in military defense, urban management, bio-medical, environmental monitoring, prevention and suppression of terrorism, hazardous area and many other important areas of remote control. So it is considered as a significant impact in the 21st century power technologies. As the sensor nodes'energy provided from battery and they are mainly distributed in the human inaccessible areas, saving energy is one of the major consideration objectives in design stage. Now there are many self-organization protocols for wireless sensor network, but most only take the energy consumption of network topology's initial stage into account and ignore the corresponding energy consumption of maintenance stage. Therefore, the paper will combine the two stages into account and dedicate to three kinds of self-organizing algorithm performance comparison of energy consumption. Ultimately, through the simulation platform and real-node platform experiments, we obtain the law between topological structure and energy consumption that is the algorithm using local information in network maintenance, with a loop structure, has higher energy efficiency than the one using only global information in network maintenance without loop in the entire network life cycle. And we prove that Grid-based connected dominating set (Mesh-CDS) algorithm which we submitted has the best energy performance. We take this research to guide the design and selection of self-organization algorithms for wireless sensor network. In my paper, the first chapter introduces the research background and an overview of wireless sensor network, including wireless sensor network node structure, network architecture and network protocol stack. At the same time, we compare wireless sensor network and traditional network. Then we take a summary of wireless sensor network's research progress and application areas and summarize the main research contents of this paper in the end.The second chapter introduces the definition of self-organization and then compares self-organization protocols and routing protocols. Following this, we take a discussion on self-organizing wireless sensor network protocols classification. Then we describe principles for three kinds of wireless sensor network's self-organizing algorithms, which are Flooding Tree algorithm, maximum independent set based connected dominating set (MIS-CDS) algorithm and grid-based connected dominating set (Mesh-CDS) algorithm. After this, we combine network's initialization stage and maintenance stage into consideration and sum up the evaluation criteria of self-organization algorithm for wireless sensor network. The third chapter consists of wireless sensor network's self-organization protocols implementation and results analysis section in OMNET++ simulation platform. In this section, we firstly introduce the simulation software named OMNET++, and then achieve the simulation of the three self-organization algorithms for wireless sensor network. In the end, we analyze the simulation results.Chapter four is the implementation and results analysis section of wireless sensor network's self-organization protocols on real node platform named Imote2. In this part, we firstly introduce Imote2 nodes' performance parameters and IEEE 802.15.4 standard, and then introduce the overall coding structure design and user interface design on the nodes. The final part is the experiment results'analysis. Finally, we take a summary of this paper and have an outlook of wireless sensor network's self-organization protocols.
