According to different types of network, the provision of value-added services has many ways, in which the service node is a convenient and common one.Service Node (SN) provides service control function (SCF), service data function (SDF), and special resource function (SRF) in an intelligent service, as a completed service platform. It needs the capability of not only support accesses with various signal protocols, but also providing operation and processing of media resources in accordance with the requirements of the service logics which are running in the platform.As the main provider of value-added service, the platform based on Service Node technology needs to be stable to run for a long time in telecommunications network. When a problem occurs, engineers should be able to quickly locate and resolve the problem. The runtime log is essential in resolving problems. This paper describes a runtime recording tool for value-added platform. By basing on binary logs, the record tool uses less space in disk, contains more detailed information and can be easily extended. It provides more powerful supportive ability than traditional tracing methods. The runtime recorder system is valuable for system design and development of value-added platform.The project is based on VAS2000 business intelligence platform developed by DASCOM information Technology (Beijing) Co., Ltd and is driven by requirement of maintenance. By considering necessary of scalability and performance requirement, the recorder is separate into two departments. The record generation part is imbedded into modules of value-added platform for collecting the key values, coding and generating binary logs. The viewer part is used for decoding and displaying the information in the binary files. Through the test result, the imbedded trace generating tool can guarantee the performance of the platform modules.This paper introduced the design and development of the runtime recorder of value-added service platform step by step. There are five characters. Firstly, information about telecommunication value-added service, service node technology and VAS2000 platform is introduced. Secondly, requirements including execution environment, interfaces and functional of runtime recorder is described in angle of value-added providing system. The main part of this paper introduced the design and implement of the runtime recorder. Then the test work of this project is introduced. Finally, a summary of test result is given.
