In recent years, various sports venues, theaters and other public facilities are developing rapidly as China's urbanization process. The safety of these large buildings is important. Localization technology will play an important role in indoor positioning, as it can provide location information of human and goods. This paper mainly researches the indoor localization technology in wireless sensor network which is based on RSSI, and proposes a location experiment system.Wireless sensor network consists of nodes which are deployed in a target region for the purpose of goods and environment monitor. The emergence and development of wireless sensor network (WSN) is the result of the development and integration of wireless communication, sensor technology and embedded systems. As a new technology, WSN has been applied to many fields such as industry monitor, environment management, office automation (OA), medical treatment and military defence. Localization technology, as one of the key technologies of WSN, can play an important role in indoor monitor and emergency location.After comprehensive consideration of the actual applications, power-consumption and the cost of the sensor nodes, RSSI (Receive Signal Strength Indication) technology is used to measure distance between the nodes in this paper. The relation of RSSI and distance is showed by the RSSI distribution model. After measuring of the distance, an algorithm based on distance-average amendment is proposed. The indoor heterogeneous network environment as a general condition has also been taken into account. A priority-based adaptive vertical handoff algorithm is been designed in the paper as the solution for communication and location in heterogeneous networks.At the last part of paper, we design an experimental program to test the practicality of the algorithm. The result shows that the algorithm not only has practical value, but also can become to a reference for other wireless indoor applications.
