Radio frequency identification (RFID) technology is an untouched au-to-identification technology which had been raised in 60's-70's last century. Many people have seen RFID system as an effective technology which can implement ubiq-uitous computing environment. Nowadays, RFID technology have been used in many different areas, such as production and sale management, library books management, animal research and identification of bred animals, guarding against imitative passport, etc. However, there is an unignorable problem in RFID system-no effective air-interface security mechanism. For the RFID system's necessary element-tag must be low-cost, designing an efficient, secure air-interface security protocol is a challenging task. Now security problem has become important factor which restricts RFID system application cosmically.This paper describes existent security problem and privacy problem of RFID system in detail, at the same time, analyzes and evaluate the existing security proto-cols which have been released, then point out their shortages.Ground on these works, this paper affords two security mechanisms respectively based on variable ID and static ID.The data exchanged between RFID reader and tag can be protected by these mechanisms.This paper also analyzes the protocols in security and performance as-pects.This paper mainly describes the following parts:1.Introduces RFID concept, and makes a detail description for RFID research background, developing course, relative standards and its applications.2.Researches on RFID system and its composing entities, and expatiates its work principle.3.Describes partition of security layers for RFID system, main security and privacy problems and current solutions for these problems.Particularly, describes several kinds of security protocols proposed for RFID air-interface by other re-searchers, and analyze their shortages respectively.4.This paper proposes two security mechanisms respectively based on variable ID and static ID, and separately analyzes their security and performance.5.Modifies the standard EPC C1 G2's air-interface communication protocol based on the static ID protocol This paper proposed, defines new commands and states, and describes the modified communication flow and state transition.
