Calculation of mineral resources and reserves, no matter in the mine planning or mining area, is a subject of concern. How much resource it has, is the planning department and the exploitation of those who want to know, it can bring economic benefits. The traditional method of reserves calculation is simple, but accuracy is not high, and less reliable. Therefore, it will be eliminated.Geostatistics, rooted in the field of solid mineral reserve calculation, and been universally acknowledged. Kriging is considered as the most advanced and scientific reserves calculation method. It was built on probability statistics, combined with the spatial and structural of the geological variables, developed to an edge subject of earth science. With the development of computer technology, has been a series of software developed and applied based on geostatistics.Fractal, as a new method birthed in the 20th century, has its unique in the natural landscape and non-smooth curve draw, favored by many scientists. Fractal interpolation, added certainty and random theory, provides a new way for empirical data fitting. Not only opened up new areas of research for the function approximation theory, but also provide a powerful tool for computer graphics, is now fully demonstrated its great vitality. Combine the geostatistics and fractal to take their advantages. It will acquire perfect results in the ore body modeling and ore reserves calculation.Based on the algorithms of calculation reserves that have done by my senior fellow, this paper has done improvement and system development. At first, introduced the theory of fractal interpolation. Including iterated function systems and fractal interpolation algorithm based on three-dimensional rectangular subdivision. Then introduced the theory and algorithm of geostatistics, including the concept of regionalized variables, variation function and structural analysis, brief introduction to the most widely used ordinary kriging. On the basis, use VC++6.0 and MATLAB as the development platform, mixed with the COM way to complete the development of reserve calculation system base on the combination of fractal and ordinary kriging. Systems development, full compliance with software engineering processes. After it, relying on the data of a mining area in Tibet, use the software to process the mining area of data and calculation. Draw out the mine's ore body, calculate how much of the mining resource and give comparative analysis with the results calculated by SD software. Confirmed that the software reliability and practicality.
