Powder pressing technology is an effective measure of pressing special explosive components. The working process's reliability and stability will directly affect the quality of the Initiating Explosive Devices (IED) production. As an implementation machine of powder pressing process, the powder pressing machine has been widely applied in China. Because of the lower degree of automation and the stability problem, the pressing machine restricted the improvement of the automatic level of IED assembly for a long time. In order to solve the bugs of the present machines, meet the modern production needs, guarantee the quality and efficiency of product, protect the safety of operator, it is very important to research and manufacture powder pressing equipment with high reliability and productivity. Meanwhile, it has much value and practical significance to improve the pressing assembly production.Firstly this paper expatiated on the theoretical basis and working principle of the pressing process. Then it analyzed the characteristics and density change of the pharmaceutical medicament in pressing explosive process, and obtained the relationship between explosive density and pressure. After the above-mentioned analysis, the paper discussed various feasible program merits and full pneumatic power work feasibility. Then a full pneumatic power manner powder pressing system used pneumatic technique work in Programmable Logical Controller (PLC) technique was presented. Considering the features of work site security, the Full Pneumatic Press design adopted modular structure, including the pressure host machine, gas road control system and the circuit control system. Then, the paper introduced the structure design of drug host pressurized system, the retreat mold system and the security protection system. After analyzing the purpose and structure of pneumatic control loop, the pneumatic circuit was designed. According to the control requirements and performance targets, the paper completed the circuit design, formulated the machine work processes, designed system control program based on PLC and Human Machine Interface (HMI). The paper completed the parameters tuning of the control algorithm. It improved the control precision and solved instability of the pneumatic pressure as well as the safety and reliability of the Press. Against the unobvious signs fault in pressing explosive process, this paper adopted a sort of fault diagnosis method based on fuzzy inference to identification the state of the Press, obtained fuzzy fault diagnosis model. Finally, it gave the reasoning process and corresponding instance.Through debugging and testing this system, the Full Pneumatic Press can complete pressure, hold pressure, retreat mold, monitoring and security process automatically during the whole process. Not only the pressure precision, stability, safety and production efficiency of the system all achieved expected objectives, but also the operating interface was convenient. At present, a few equipments have been already put into operation.
