With the gradual and further research of distance educational technology, students can get lots of study materials on internet, but now it can not meet the demands of new learning model in modern society. In recent years, with the development of the internet, live broadcast technology for E-course is one of the hot spot of e-learning research and application. The combination of the network education and the real-time interaction will make network education mount to a new stage. The risen of the E-course live broadcast with real-time interactive model makes the activities between educators and educated from synchronization to asynchronous.This paper proposes a real-time interaction model in E-course live broadcast environment, then designs and realizes a live broadcast subsystem, which provides the service for students to learn in a live broadcast environment and contact with teacher in real-time. The experiment shows that this model provides the effective interaction between teachers and students in distance learning environment. This subsystem includes an E-course live broadcast module and a real-time interaction module. The E-course live broadcast module adopts two optional schemes that are the Windows media live broadcast scheme and the CSMX live broadcast scheme. The real-time interaction module adopts Flash Media Server of Adobe and RTMP TCP. The subsystem has been successfully used in School of Continuing Education, Shanghai JiaoTong University.The main contributions of this paper include the following aspects:Firstly, a live broadcast subsystem for E-course of distance learning environment is designed and implemented. On the basis of analyzing the application mode of E-course live broadcast, this paper presents a real-time interactive model, including the collection and playing of educational resource using multimedia technology, the interaction between teacher and students with network technology.Secondly, live broadcast approaches are studied and a live-broadcast model is presented with CSMX technology based on the Windows Media Platform. The model is used to broadcast the live classroom, which includes video, audio, lecture notes and handwritings to mobile phones. Students can easier and more ready access to learning resources. Thirdly, a real-time interaction model is designed and realized in E-course live broadcast environment. The real-time interaction module adopts Flash Media Server of Adobe and RTMP TCP. Flash software can be compatible with more interaction model. RTMP TCP can reduce the network time-delay of the video and the audio, also can set the quality of video based on bandwidth and has multi-interactive measures, effectively reduce the bandwidth usage. It was proved in the application that this real-time interaction model has good effect, and meets the requirements of real-time interaction in E-course live broadcast learning environment.Finally, interaction module has two major characteristics which are diversity and flexibility. The alternating multi-format includes SMS, video and audio interaction, text and manuscript board interaction. It is good to solve the interaction between teachers and students and control the quantity of teaching, students can interact and feed back with teacher and this will ensure the teaching quantity in mobile learning process.
