Research On Optimization Of Embedded Network Storage Server

The Network Attached Storage system is a special kind of private data storage system. It is simple, convenient and expansive, high-throughput and of other excellent characteristics in using, managing and maintaining and can provide the function of cross-platform file sharing, so it is an ideal environment to store airborne data. Network Attached Storage is inseparable from Network File System, Network File System provides a very good transparency for system access, is a critical component of Network Attached Storage system.This thesis has a deep insight into the design and implementation of NFS server under VxWorks based on the analysis and summary of NFS and its related protocols. And on this basis, the performance of the NFS server is optimized and other functions are added. The main works are presented in this thesis as follows:1) Analyze the Remote Procedure Call and Network File System protocol in detail. The description of RPC includes the format of RPC request and reply and the concept of eXternal Data Represetation and Port Mapper. The description of NFS inlucdes the procedures of Mount protocol, Network Lock Manager protocol and Network Status Monitor protocol and the interaction between NLM and NSM which are used to implement the file lock.2) Analyze VxWorks environment and its I/O structure, divide NFS into NFS server and client, and study the design of NFS server. The current implementation of NFS server is poor in performance, so the method to optimize the performance of open and write operations is proposed. Also, the network lock manager module and access control module are designed according to the requirements of the security system. 3) Introduce the IDE Tornado and how to make the VxWorks image, optimize the read and write operations and implement Network Lock Manager protocol, Network Status Monitor protocol and access control module. Finally test the performance and functions of optimized NFS server, the experiments will prove that high efficiency and reliability of NFS server are achieved.
