Data acquisition system is primarily composed of sensor, analog to digital converter and computer control system. It is an important approach to acquire the information. So it is widely used in scientific research, teaching experiment and other fields.This paper mainly studies the design of a portable data acquisition system based on embedded system. Firstly, it elaborates the overall design principles and solutions of the system. Then, it gives the detailed introduction on design process of the data acquisition system from the aspects of hardware and software of the embedded system. Under the principles of low power consumption, the design of data acquisition system hardware platform mainly includes: the power circuit design of Cortex-M3 microcontroller, the ADC interface circuit design for data acquisition, the external storage circuit design for data storage, the LCD interface circuit design for data waveform displaying and human interactive operation and the USB 2.0 interface circuit design for data transmission. The design of data acquisition system software platform mainly includes: the analysis of real time operation systemμC/OS-II kernel and its porting into the system microcontroller, the porting process of graphic user interface development softwareμC/GUI. On the basis of both the hardware and software development platform, this paper introduces the detailed software design process of hardware abstract layer and system application layer.In conclusion, the paper introduces the debug method of the system, gives the specific debug procedure, presents the results of system function testing, analyses the accuracy of the testing results.
