Research Of Integration Of Digital Library And Virtual Learning Environment

With the development and improvement of network communication technology, computer technology and digital technology, the paths to accessing information have been improved significantly, and people's learning gets more efficient in the information society environment. More and more users obtain the information via the Web. How to improve the quality of education and the ability of student have been studied by educators. To meet the development of information society, education organizations and research institutions pay attention to use and enhance the electronic resources. Then E-learning and virtual learning is rising up. At the same time, librarians have begun to use digital technology to improve library services. University libraries pay attention to the innovation in the field of information science. The innovation of technical and organizational has been produced. In recent years, digital library has achieved fruitful results. With the growing knowledge and information, improving of information literacy and learning efficient is important. Construction of integrated virtual learning environment is the hot issues. Integrated research of digital libraries and virtual learning environment will improve utilization of resources and efficiency of learning.In this paper, the development of information services, knowledge services and resource integration is introduced. Then, the concept and development status of virtual learning environment (VLE) and digital libraries is reviewed. The meaning of integration of digital libraries and VLE is analyzed. Based on the research and development of domestic and overseas, the most important research contents are described. The main technical support of integration, the available resources and various function modules of system are introduced. The VLE system is designed and implemented by using the open source software. Then the implementation process of integrated system is described in detail. And the prototype system of the integrated virtual learning environment is given. Finally, the system problems and future research directions are concluded.The various technical methods of integration of digital libraries and virtual learning environment are studied in this paper. The integrated system architecture has been designed by Z39.50, OpenURL, LDAP and other protocols. The main technical methods include meta-data technology, database technology and interface technology. How to use the MetaLib/SFX academic information resources integration system to realize the integration of VLE and digital library is described in this paper.
