Instant Messaging is a kind of technology enabling people to recognize on-line users and exchange information with them;By this way, users may exchage the real-time information conviently. Recently, more and more enterprises use instant communication tools to exchange information among their inner deparments and enterprises because of its low costs, high efficiency and safe communications environment.However, many LAN-based communication tools can not solve the problems of cross-regional business communication and many popular instant messaging tools widely used by the employees also bring many safety and management problems. Because there are a variety of problems with the instant messaging system, they have not been widely used. Therefore, it is urgent to develop a communication platform for enterprise-class users.Based on these reasons, this thesis build a instant messaging system for enterprises by employing the XML-based XMPP, complete functional intergration of the system and communicate with external commnucation systems through the expansibility and openenss of XMPP protocol.The thesis is mainly devided into the following parts:Part one is to propose new solutions to the problems existing in the instant messaging system by analysing the current research situation. Then we build the framework of the thesis by combination the C/S model with the XML-based XMPP by comparing the system structure and communication protocol in the mainstream field.Part two is to analyze all kinds of demands to the instant communication system in the enterprises,make an overall design and the functional modules'division. Then we focus on the detailed design of the functional modules,such as the management and authority deivision of the users, list management of the linkman, interaction with the outside,multimedia integration and so on.Part three is to research the key technologies in this system, and then compelete the system with the support of the Openfire and Smack libray of XMPP.Through the experimnet research,we can see that this system has perfect functions, high safety performace and powerful expansibility,all of these achieve the design purpose of the system.
