High Speed Uplink Packet Access (HSUPA) is a new work item of TechnicalSpecification Release 6 in 3GPP WCDMA system. The techniques of this work item,i.e. Node B controlled scheduling, Hybrid ARQ with Chase Combining, Shorter TTI,are to improve the performance of uplink dedicated transport channels, i.e. to increase capacity and throughput and reduce delay.Firstly, on the basic of WCDMA HSUPA net structure, given the character of Node B scheduling mechanism and the superiority to the traditional scheduling mechanism. It shows the overview of these new technologies, and how WCDMA system works with them.Secondly, it introduce the three important technology of WCDMA HSUPA, including Node B scheduling, HARQ retransmission, and 2ms TTI. Then it research on the principle of the physical layer of WCDMA HSUPA, including the structure of HSUPA physical layer and new physical channel. It studys the Node B scheduling mechanism and deal with the different situation in switching. Then it compares the performance between WCDMA and R99.At last, it introduces the principle of the WCDMA HSUPA base station scheduling system. Mainly research on the designing and application of cell load computing and controlling module, UE state information update module, UE scheduling priority sorting module and flow rate controlling module. It introduce the computing and distribution of UE scheduling grant, distribution of signature, E-TFC choosing and predicting algorithm, and also research on the scheduling in different situation.
