As a result of the development of the Internet, both the types and the volume of services provided by telecommunications networks are growing year by year, which triggers a fierce competition on network resources, network bandwidths and performance upgrade in the telecommnication markets. Therefore, telecom operators apply a variety of methods to improve the network operating efficiency and their competitive power.MSTP(Multiple Services Transport Platform) based on SDH came into being accordingly,MSTP supports data service especially Ethernet service, which solves the bandwidth issue efficiently. The MSTP technique is widely applied in the core layer, collection layer and access layerof the Metropolitan Area Network and it earns a better market competition and a better future prospect. This thesis is based on the MSTP technique, studying and developing the MSTP155-24 system. It supports STM-1(155.52Mbit per second)optical interface, which enables the transmission and accessing of Ethernet,E1 and 64k voice services. The cross-connect of 64k time slots could be applied in ADM and TM.This thesis expounds the application background and the development status of MSTP, then introduces the constitution of the MSTP155-24 system, software environment for application development. Design the block diagram of hardware and the whole structure of software, realizing the fault monitoring and performance monitoring of the system. Finally, the major services(El and Ethernet) pass the testing based on the joint of the system hardware and software, using virtual mapping can achieve inflexible cross connection on Sixty-three VC-12, meeting the national standard and industry standard. The system is applied widely in private network and third class backbone network and other communication fields.
