Digital Signal Processor is a high performance CPU, which can real-time process signal and image, and a professional chip which process signal using digital calculation. Because it's flexible, steady, repeatable, programmable and easy to real-time implement, it is widely used in radar, voice, communication, image processing, sonar, biomedical instrumentation and other aspects. It brings a great deal of opportunities to digital signal processing, and makes the means of signal processing more flexible, functions more complex. This issue designed a pseudo-color display system based on processing image by DSP. In the system, the high-performance digital signal processor DM642 from TI company is used to be processing image module. DM642 is available for parallel processing, computational speed and Cost-effective, to meet the requirements of a large number of processing data and demanding real-time system which real-time monitoring need. Meantime we use this system real-time enhance the image in a short time, in the support of the Retinex image enhancement algorithm. This article first introduces the Application Background and research current issue, and briefly introduces functionality, features and technology of DSP, and the optimization of running the DSP code in the CCS environment. Then it expound the system hardware and software design of processing video image based on DSP, and develop a overall program to achieve processing pseudo-color image, as well as Retinex image enhancement algorithm based on DSP.
