With the rapid development of computer, network communication and multimedia technology, high-quality video transmission becomes the main service of digital communication network. Mutual integration of Embedded Technology, Network Communication Technology and Multimedia Technology will become the developing trend of digital video communication field, which have broad prospects for development. As the embedded digital communication system bandwidth is limited, the previous video compression coding technology is not conducive to real-time transmission of high-quality live video. How environmental conditions in the existing network to achieve video capture, encoding and transmission of multimedia technology in recent years has been a topic of concern. In order to be able to transfer under the conditions of the limited bandwidth of high-quality video images, Video Coding Experts Group (VCEG) and Moving Picture Experts Group (MPEG) jointly introduced a new generation of video coding standard H.264.The standard has a range of advanced compression technology, significantly improve the coding efficiency, but also increases the coding complexity, restricted the H.264 standard has been applied in the embedded system constraints. So, the research on achieving H.264 video coding of high efficiency in embedded system is extremely challenging.This paper arms at developing a real-time video acquisition and transmission system on an embedded platform using H.264 coding standard. In this dissertation, based on the UTU-2440 development platform with SAMSUNG company's s3c2440 MCU, a real-time video acquisition and transmission system model is proved based on embedded operating system Windows CE and H.264 coding standard.Paper focuses on the video capture and transmission system design and implementation. First, a brief discussion of the selection of embedded system hardware and software platform to build the system environment and application development environment; And then, Windows CE stream interface driver model is studied, the driver of USB camera and decoder program are designed, and a configuration scheme of real-time encoding is established using the open source encoder x264. The scheme realizes the function of capturing video from USB camera and encoding original video data to H.264 video format data. Finally, a scheme of data transmission and fuzzy control is given based on RTP protocol and TCP/IP protocol.Functional modules through the integration of Windows CE-based embedded server-side Windows-based client for video capture, encoding, transmission and playback functions were tested to verify the system's availability and real-time. The results show that the hardware and software environment in this topic, the system under the H.264 QCIF resolution video capture, encoding and transmission speeds of up to 12fps, and image is better, to meet real time requirements.
