Cow industry is an important component and embranchment industry in stockbreeding and agricultural field, and it's plays an important role in the national economic and social development, With the reform and the gradual perfection of our country's socialist market economic system, china's cow industry has been rapid development, but cow's modern management level also fall behind developed countries, in order to realize connection with the international, improve the economic benefits of cow industry , learns from the experience of the developed countries, applying the RFID technology developing cow individual identification system is our country cow industry healthy development inevitable way.Cow individual successful recognition of basing RFID technology is prerequisite of achieving effective modern management, because in modern management system regardless of the individual file's establishment, individual information's collection, achievement of the plan for the individual, its basic technology base is the fast accurate recognition of the cow individual. This paper on the basis of consulting a lot of literature, proposes and establishes a set of cow individual identification system based on RFID, the system establishes permanent digital files for each cow through choosing Tag-it ear-tag, implements a livestock a sign, through building reader's hardware circuit and programming software realizes non-contact and fast accurate recognition for the ear-tag which storages the cow individual information, thus establishes cow's individual recognition system.This article elaborates the importance of exploiting cow individual identification system through analyzing the domestic cow industry and foreign cow industry development characteristic. And then introduces the system's software and hardware design in detail. The core of the hardware design is the reader's hardware circuit building, this paper designs a reader, which is based on high performance MCU ATmega128 and RF reading and writing chip RI-R6C-001A, and it's operating frequency is 13.56MHz. Mainly design circuit of micro-controller unit, circuit of RF reading/writing unit, RF output power amplifier circuit, RF receiver circuit, serial communicate circuit and antenna; software utilizes modular and structured programming idea, uses C language programming, designs systematic software flow, gives control flow of the main module, working flow of the RF reading/writing module, serial communicate program and flow of superior computer management system.After achieving system's software and hardware design, test is holding in actual cow farm, test result shows that in effective range of the antenna ,to TI company's ear-tag , it's typical reading distance is 86 centimeters, writing distance is 60 centimeters, reading error rate is 0 percent, writing error rate is 0.02 percent, it can identify 35 ear-tags per-second and has a strong anti-interference ability, the above target shows that this system can identify cows'individual information fast and accurately and it is suitable for the situation of the identification in actual cow's breeding process.
