In recent years, the medical imaging technology has achieved rapid development and provides doctors with a wealth of image data to improve the diagnostic accuracy. The ultrasonography diagnosis technology for its merits of safe, painless,non-invasive, intuitionistic, real-time, repetitive examining, identification of parenchyma, wide scope of application,as well as low cost advantages has become one of the four major medical imaging technology and is essential to clinical area as a diagnostic tool. So it has been widely used in the ophthalmology recently. For example, the ophthalmic B-scan ultrasound apparatus is one of ultrasound equipment widely used in the Ophthalmology. And now it should have more perfect functions to meet the need of the clinic. In this situation, the traditional ophthalmic B-scan ultrasound apparatus has shown its limitations and drawbacks in the performance side. With the development of the modem computer technology, personal computer has more powerful performance but its cost is lower and lower. It provides convenient condition to improve the performance of the ophthalmic B-scan ultrasound apparatus.The paper firstly introduces the theoretical basis of the medical ultrasound diagnostic system and then describes the application of the digital image processing technology to the ultrasound image processing in emphasis. On this basis, a software system has been realized using the vc++6.0 development tool and based on the object-oriented method on the PC platform, which has a set of functions such as image acquisition,image processing and integrated information management. In the design process, the software system is divided into several independent function modules. As the most important one of them, the image-acquisition and display module is accomplished using the Active X control technology. In order to achieve the system stability and high efficiency, multi-thread structure is used in which the task of real-time image acquisition,transmission and decoding and the other interactive operations fulfilled respectively.In addition, the system provides a variety of image processing methods to meet the different needs in practice. At the same times, the system realizes the patience information management and report generation and printing capabilities to ensure the work efficiency of doctors.
