As a kind of optimizing algorithm, Genetic algorithm is widely used from engineering to social science. With its characteristics of simple,widely used and robust, genetic algorithm has its huge advantages when solve some complicate problems. It can also converge to a better solution; it is a powerful tool to solve problems.This paper present genetic algorithm to do some optimization and improvement in radar signal processing algorithms. Phase-coded radar, with the characteristics of anti-intercept and anti-capture, draws more and more attention of the people, but the problem of sidelobe suppression limits its use. This paper put forward a method to search the bi-phase codes using adaptive genetic algorithm. By doing this, we can get bi-phase codes with good main and sidelobe ratio. In order to improve the capability of detecting moving target, we use clutter-rejection technology to suppress the clutter around the moving target. Genetic algorithm can be used to search optimal staggered code, this can reduce the efforts of computation which results from large amounts of codes combination, and it can also search the optical codes in a short time. The staged time-variant filter can not only reject clutter but also solve the problem of blind speed. Its feasibility and validity is validated.
